release_unpack_macos fails on Xcode 27 #188346

Closed

Description

@vashworth
  1. flutter create new_app && cd new_app
  2. open macos/Runner.xcworkspace/
  3. Change MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET to macOS 12.0 in the build setting for both the Runner target and Flutter Assemble target (this is to bypass Increase macOS minimum supported version from 10.15 to 12 to support Xcode 27 #187762).
  4. flutter build macos
Target release_unpack_macos failed: Exception: Binary /Users/vashworth/Development/experiment/new_app/build/macos/Build/Products/Release/FlutterMacOS.framework/Versions/A/FlutterMacOS does not contain architectures "arm64 x86_64".

lipo -info:

    When using Xcode 27, using lipo to verify multiple architectures at once now fails:

    lipo /path/to/binary/ -verify_arch arm64 x86_64
    lipo: -verify_arch requires exactly one input file

    We need to change it to verify them individually:

    final ProcessResult verifyResult = await environment.processManager.run(<String>[
    'lipo',
    frameworkBinaryPath,
    '-verify_arch',
    ...archList,
    ]);
    if (verifyResult.exitCode != 0) {
    throw Exception(
    'Binary $frameworkBinaryPath does not contain architectures "$archs".\n'
    '\n'
    'lipo -info:\n'
    '$lipoInfo',
    );
    }

    I'm re-opening this issue because a team member mentioned that it's still occurring. See this #189576 (comment) for details.

    @puneetkukreja98 I have a cp for stable out out #189792 and to address your #189576 (comment), can you do flutter upgrade and try again,

    It seems your checkout of master is outdated and the pr was merged on June 26th:
