What is the link to the issue this cherry-pick is addressing?

#188346

Impact Description:

What is the impact (ex. visual jank on Samsung phones, app crash, cannot ship an iOS app)?
Does it impact development (ex. flutter doctor crashes when Android Studio is installed),
or the shipping of production apps (the app crashes on launch).
This information is for domain experts and release engineers to understand the consequences of saying yes or no to the cherry pick.

This fixes a blocking build failure that prevents developers from building or shipping iOS and macOS applications when using the newly released Xcode 27 toolchain (a lipo verification failure for Darwin frameworks).

Changelog Description:

Explain this cherry pick:

  • In one line that is accessible to most Flutter developers.
  • That describes the state prior to the fix.
  • That includes which platforms are impacted.
    See best practices for examples.

[flutter/188346] When building on macOS or iOS using the Xcode 27 toolchain, the build will fail due to a lipo verification error.

Workaround:

Is there a workaround for this issue?

Downgrade to an earlier version of Xcode (e.g., Xcode 26) to successfully build iOS and macOS apps.

Risk:

What is the risk level of this cherry-pick?

  • Low
  • Medium
  • High

Test Coverage:

Are you confident that your fix is well-tested by automated tests?

  • Yes
  • No

Validation Steps:

What are the steps to validate that this fix works?

Build any Flutter iOS or macOS app using Xcode 27. The build should succeed without any lipo verification errors for Darwin frameworks.

…#188625)

Code Review

This pull request updates the Darwin build target to verify each architecture individually using lipo -verify_arch in a loop, rather than passing all architectures to a single command. The error message is updated to indicate the specific architecture that failed verification, and the corresponding unit tests in ios_test.dart and macos_test.dart are updated to reflect these changes. No review comments were provided, and there is no additional feedback.
