Part of #186414

This batch migrates 7 Devicelab tests to simulators:

  • integration_test_test_ios
  • ios_defines_test
  • keyboard_hot_restart_ios
  • native_platform_view_ui_tests_ios
  • platform_channel_sample_test_ios
  • platform_channel_sample_test_swift

Changes:

  • Moved targets in .ci.yaml from Mac_ios to Mac (Simulator) with bringup: true and injected ruby dependency.
  • Changed tags to ["devicelab", "hostonly", "mac"].
  • Wrapped Devicelab tasks with testWithNewIOSSimulator.
  • Migrated ios_platform_view_tests to adopt UIScene lifecycle
  • Handled simulator environment battery fallback for platform_channel and platform_channel_swift.

This PR migrates another batch of devicelab driver tests from physical iOS devices to macOS Simulators (hostonly bots).

What these tests do:

  • integration_test_test_ios: Runs end-to-end integration test smoke tests using the integration_test package against an iOS app (dev/integration_tests/ui).
  • ios_defines_test: Verifies that --dart-define command-line arguments are properly forwarded to and accessible within the running iOS application.
  • keyboard_hot_restart_ios: Verifies that performing a Flutter hot restart correctly dismisses an active iOS software keyboard.
  • native_platform_view_ui_tests_ios: Runs native XCUITests to verify iOS Platform View interactions, including text field focus, Z-ordering, and touch handling.
  • platform_channel_sample_test_ios: Verifies MethodChannel and EventChannel communication in Objective-C using the sample platform channel app.
  • platform_channel_sample_test_swift: Verifies MethodChannel and EventChannel communication in Swift using the sample Swift platform channel app.

Why it is safe to migrate:
None of these tests require physical iOS hardware features (e.g. camera, physical sensors, or external peripherals). They validate integration test runners, CLI argument forwarding, keyboard state transitions, platform channel communication, text editing, and XCUITest view hierarchy assertions—all of which function identically on the macOS iOS Simulator.

(Notes:

  • The AppDelegate and Info.plist for ios_platform_view_tests and spell_check were updated to adopt the UIScene lifecycle with FlutterImplicitEngineDelegate.
  • *platform_channel and platform_channel_swift already natively supported UIScene
  • Per the suggestion, I confirmed the battery level check in platform_channel and platform_channel_swift is arbitrary for the purpose of testing platform channels and added fallback mock battery values on simulator targets (#if TARGET_OS_SIMULATOR / #if targetEnvironment(simulator)) so that the sample apps run consistently).

keyboard_hot_restart_ios: Verifies that performing a Flutter hot restart correctly dismisses an active iOS software keyboard.

Did you test this locally to make sure it passes? Simulator keyboard sometimes don't expand when clicked on due to it sharing the host keyboard.

spell_check_test_ios: Verifies text editing and native spell-check integration test scenarios.

I think I'd be inclined to keep this one on a physical device. Simulators are not always reliable for text input (example)

@vashworth yup, they all pass when i ran locally but i do agree spell_check_test_ios could be flaky at times
