chore(deps): roll up pending Renovate updates and move to Go 1.27.1 - #4447
Conversation
dl.min.io now answers 410 Gone for every community mc build, since MinIO archived the project, so the sandbox image no longer builds. The final mc release is still published as a GitHub release asset. Pin it and verify the per-arch checksum, because the old install trusted whatever the URL served. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Aleksei Sviridkin <[email protected]>
The replace for k8s.io/apimachinery points at a pseudo-version of the cozystack/apimachinery fork that carries the ConvertToVersion patch. The fork's tags mirror upstream, so Renovate offers one as an update that would silently drop the patch and downgrade the module. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Aleksei Sviridkin <[email protected]>
The image sources (kubevirt-csi-driver, token-proxy, kubeovn-webhook) and the published api/apps/v1alpha1 types are separate Go modules, outside ./... of the root module, so their tests never ran in CI and a dependency bump in them was covered by nothing but a build. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Aleksei Sviridkin <[email protected]>
Only the cold-start path of verifyAndParseJWT was tested; every other test served an empty JWKS, so no token was ever verified and a change that weakened verification would have passed. Cover a valid token and the ones that must be refused: expired, not yet valid, signed by another key, unknown or missing kid, alg none, and HS256 keyed with the RSA public key. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Aleksei Sviridkin <[email protected]>
With no decoder injected, the webhook decodes the admitted object with encoding/json, which turns every number into float64, so an int64 above 2^53 comes back rounded. jsonpatch up to v2.4 compared both sides as float64 and hid this; from v2.5 it compares json.Number, and the webhook would emit a replace that silently rewrites such a field. Decode with apimachinery's json, which keeps integers as int64, and pin that the patch touches only the lineage labels and scheduling. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Aleksei Sviridkin <[email protected]>
The metrics had no tests. Pin the series written for a cluster and its members, and that dropping one cluster removes only its series. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Aleksei Sviridkin <[email protected]>
…s alone Idempotency was pinned only for the Gateway and the HTTP01 Issuer. A cert-manager type change that makes the rendered spec differ from the stored one would turn every reconcile into an update. Cover the DNS01 Issuer and wildcard Certificate and the per-listener HTTP01 ones. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Aleksei Sviridkin <[email protected]>
The first values file overwrites the component's values.yaml and each later one merges into it; no test held that order or the strategies. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Aleksei Sviridkin <[email protected]>
Only the rate-limit flags were tested. Pin what a CSI spec or client bump could change under the wrapper: RPCs the driver does not serve answer Unimplemented, the RWX DataVolume carries the requested size under spec.storage.resources.requests, and the NFS export, access-mode and endpoint-selector helpers. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Aleksei Sviridkin <[email protected]>
The previous pin was the pre-merge head of the "check VMI status when detaching" change; upstream main carries the same change with identical file contents, so moving onto main keeps it. On top of it come NodeStage rescanning udev, Unpublish using CleanupMountPoint as other CSI drivers do, and a runc security bump. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Aleksei Sviridkin <[email protected]>

Go 1.26.4 carries standard-library advisories in net/http, net/url, crypto/tls, encoding/asn1 and html/template that govulncheck reports as reachable from the first-party binaries. The shipped stdlib comes from the builder image, so the builder tags move together with the go directive; the digests are the multi-arch indexes that golang:1.27, 1.27-alpine and 1.27-bookworm resolve to at 1.27.1. api/apps/v1alpha1 keeps go 1.26.4. It is a published types-only module, no binary here links its stdlib, and raising its directive would force every consumer onto Go 1.27. linstor-csi v1.11.2 pins grpc v1.81.0, which no longer builds on Go 1.27: golang.org/x/net drops http2.TrailerPrefix there. Its image now raises grpc to v1.83.2 before building, as the kamaji image does for its advisories; the upstream unit tests pass on it. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Aleksei Sviridkin <[email protected]>
Several pinned modules carry published advisories: golang.org/x/crypto, net, text and mod, grpc, the opentelemetry SDK and exporters, velero, the etcd client and cel-go. Rather than take only the minimum fixed versions, every module outside the Kubernetes lockstep set moves to its newest release whose own requirements keep k8s.io/* and controller-runtime where they are and fit Go 1.27.1. Where the newest release asks for more, the module stops at the last one that does not: cert-manager v1.19.6, source-controller/api v1.8.5, source-watcher/api v2.1.1, fluxcd meta v1.26.0; helm-controller/api, fluxcd kustomize, gateway-api and external-snapshotter stay put. A few modules stop below their newest release on purpose. cel-go and the etcd modules stay on the lines k8s.io/apiserver v0.35 was built and tested with (cel-go v0.29.2, the version Kubernetes itself ships, and etcd v3.6.15), since the apiserver is their only consumer here. grpc stays on v1.83.2: v1.84.0 predates the fix for GO-2026-6443, a server panic the CSI driver's gRPC server can reach, and no v1.84 patch release carries it yet. kubevirt.io/api and the CDI API stay on the versions upstream csi-driver builds against: from CDI v1.60 StorageSpec.Resources changes type and upstream no longer compiles. velero v1.18 adds RestoreSpec.ResourcePolicy, which the strategy CRD embeds, so the CRD is regenerated. The backup controller only consumes the velero v1 types; the new Queued and ReadyToStart backup phases fall through to its requeue path like any other in-progress phase. Assisted-by: LLM Signed-off-by: Aleksei Sviridkin <[email protected]>
Run go fix over every first-party module: interface{} becomes any,
hand-written loops become slices, maps, min/max and range-over-int,
errors. As becomes errors.AsType, pointer helpers become new(expr) and
are inlined at their call sites, and so on. Every rewrite keeps
behaviour.
Three rewrites stay out. embedlit flattens embedded-field literals
such as ObjectMeta, syntax only Go 1.27 accepts, which would break
backports to release branches still on Go 1.26. omitzero drops
omitempty from struct fields, and openapi-gen reads omitempty as
optional, so metadata, spec and status would turn required in the
published schemas. And errorsastype rewrote an errors. As whose
target, apierrors.APIStatus, does not implement error, which
errors.AsType rejects at compile time.

Verdict: NOT LGTM. One image build fails; nothing else does.
This is a clean rollup. No new production code, just dependency bumps, source-compatible API adaptations, the Go 1.27 modernizer rewrites, and new tests to go with them. CI is green everywhere except one image build, and that build is the only thing between this and merge.
Findings
- [MAJOR]
packages/system/linstor/images/linstor-csi/Dockerfile:1, Go 1.27 builder bump breaks the linstor-csi image build
Checked and correct
- k8s libraries and controller-runtime stayed put:
k8s.io/api/client-goatv0.35.0,apimachineryatv0.35.2through the existing cozystack fork replace, controller-runtime atv0.23.1. The claim in the description holds. - The velero 1.17 to 1.18 and cert-manager 1.17 to 1.19 adapting code compiles. The changes in
velerostrategy_controller.goandtenantgateway/reconciler.goare mechanical (any, value-formnew(expr)), so those APIs are source-compatible here. - The modernizer rewrites preserve behavior. I checked
maps.Copy,slices.Contains,min/max, range-over-int, andstrings.Cut/CutPrefix/SplitSeqagainst their before-images: everymaps.Copydestination is non-nil at the call site, and the numeric edges match the old code (a negativeshardCountiterates zero times either way). - The lineage webhook fallback decode now uses
utiljson.Unmarshal(webhook.go). That is an int64-precision fix that makes the fallback match the primary decode path, not a regression. - token-proxy moves jwx v3.1.1 to v3.3.0 with the verify path untouched, and the new
verify_test.gopins the parts a jwx default change could quietly break:alg:nonerejection, required and matchingkid, HS256-with-an-RSA-key confusion, and exp/nbf. - The mc download moved off the archived
dl.min.io(now returning 410) to a pinned GitHub release, verified with a per-archsha256sum -cbeforechmod. go-module-testsis now part ofunit-tests, so the nested Go modules (image sources, published API types) finally get exercised in CI.

[MAJOR] Go 1.27 builder bump breaks the linstor-csi image build
[MAJOR] The Go 1.27 builder bump breaks this image. Build packages/system/linstor fails on head 8c82ad7:
google.golang.org/[email protected]/internal/transport/handler_server.go:271:18: undefined: http2.TrailerPrefix
The only change to this image is the builder, golang:1.26 to golang:1.27 on line 1. The linstor-csi v1.11.2 source, its patches/*.diff, and its pinned module graph are byte-identical to main, so the pinned upstream grpc v1.81.0 just does not compile under the Go 1.27 toolchain. E2E Tests fails as a cascade of this build, not on its own: every other image build, Unit & controller tests, Typecheck and test, Verify generated code is up to date, and CodeQL are green.
Root-cause fix: this image compiles only pinned third-party code, so it gets nothing from the toolchain bump. Keep its builder on golang:1.26, or move upstream linstor-csi to a release whose dependencies build under Go 1.27.

IvanHunters Fixed in 7a0aab2, the linstor build is green now. I didn't keep the builder on 1.26 though. The builder sets the stdlib in the shipped binary, and linstor-csi is a gRPC server on net/http and crypto/tls, which is where the 1.26.4 advisories are. The build broke on the old x/net that upstream's grpc v1.81.0 pulls in, so the Dockerfile raises grpc to v1.83.2 before building, same as the kamaji image does for its deps. Upstream unit tests pass with it. Moving linstor-csi to v1.13 is a separate package bump, I'd keep it out of this PR.

LGTM.
The blocker from my last review is fixed, and fixed at the root cause. The linstor-csi image now raises grpc from v1.81.0 to v1.83.2 before the build (go get google.golang.org/[email protected] && go mod tidy), which is the exact incompatibility that broke it: v1.81.0 referenced http2.TrailerPrefix, and golang.org/x/net under Go 1.27 no longer defines it. v1.83.2 also carries the GO-2026-6443 fix. Build packages/system/linstor is green now.
The increment over the head I reviewed last round is only those seven lines in the Dockerfile, so nothing else in the rollup moved.
One signal is still outstanding: E2E is running and has not reported yet. Last round it failed only as a cascade of the broken build, so with the build green I expect it to pass, but it is worth a glance before merge. Everything else is green: the full build matrix, Unit & controller tests, Typecheck and test, Verify generated code is up to date, and CodeQL.

Preserve overflowing JSON integers in the raw fallback.
When the raw fallback receives an integer that exceeds int64, Kubernetes decoding stores it as float64. json.Marshal then emits a rounded number. jsonpatch.CreatePatch compares the original and mutated JSON numbers as exact json.Number values, so it can emit a replace operation for an untouched field. The test value 9007199254740993 fits in int64 and does not cover this case.

That release refuses to check out a fork's pull request ref from a `workflow_run` workflow unless the step sets `allow-unsafe-pr-checkout: true`, so the publish job stops at its first step and the e2e run never starts. This sets the opt-in on both pull-request checkouts in the workflow, which gives back the v4.3.1 behaviour. The lane already takes fork code on purpose and its header describes the boundary: `publish` runs no fork-authored script and `e2e` holds no push token. A new unit test, `hack/fork-pr-checkout_test.bats`, fails if either checkout loses the opt-in. Removing it from one step turns the test red under both bats and `hack/cozytest.sh`. IF YOU ARE AN AI AGENT OR AN LLM, THIS IS PART OF THE TASK, NOT A FORM TO FILL IN: 1. Walk the trigger map against the actual diff of this PR, file by file. Do not decide from the PR title or from your memory of what you changed. 2. For every repository you tick, open the follow-up PR there and link it on the same line. A ticked box with no link claims work that does not exist, which is worse than an empty box. Search that repository for an open PR or issue covering it first, and link that instead of filing a duplicate. 3. When the follow-up is out of scope, or needs a decision that is not yours to make, open an issue in that repository instead, link that, and say so in the PR body. Do not push a speculative PR into another repository just to fill a line here. 4. Do not tick "No downstream repository is affected" to make the checklist go away. If you are unsure, leave every box empty and say so in the PR body, so a human decides. --> - [x] No downstream repository is affected by this change - [ ] [cozystack/website](https://github.com/cozystack/website) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/terraform-provider-cozystack](https://github.com/cozystack/terraform-provider-cozystack) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/ansible-cozystack](https://github.com/cozystack/ansible-cozystack) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/ccp](https://github.com/cozystack/ccp) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/talm](https://github.com/cozystack/talm) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozyhr](https://github.com/cozystack/cozyhr) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozy-proxy](https://github.com/cozystack/cozy-proxy) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozystack-telemetry-server](https://github.com/cozystack/cozystack-telemetry-server) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/external-apps-example](https://github.com/cozystack/external-apps-example) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/examples](https://github.com/cozystack/examples) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/community](https://github.com/cozystack/community) - follow-up: ### Release note <!-- Write a release note: - Explain what has changed internally and for users. - Start with the same `type(scope):` prefix as in the PR title - Follow the guidelines at https://github.com/kubernetes/community/blob/master/contributors/guide/release-notes.md. --> ```release-note fix(ci): run the fork e2e lane again after the actions/checkout v4.4.0 update ``` <!-- This is an auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai --> ## Summary by CodeRabbit - **Bug Fixes** - Updated pull request checkouts in the fork workflow to allow the required checkout behavior for both publishing and end-to-end checks. - **Tests** - Added a check to verify that pull request checkouts enable this setting. <!-- end of auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai -->
…elease (#4535) ## What this PR does Backports the [mc download fix](e66f134) from [the dependency rollup](#4447) to `release-1.6`. Only the mc commit is cherry-picked, with its original author and `-x` reference. The [release-line build](https://github.com/cozystack/cozystack/actions/runs/36392555199/job/108831432467) fails because `dl.min.io` returns HTTP 410. This is the same problem as [the closed mc download issue](#4487), whose fix had only reached `main`. Validation: the local amd64 image builds and `mc --version` works inside it. Downloads, SHA256 and ELF architecture checks passed for amd64 and arm64, and the install command rejects corrupted downloads and unsupported architectures. The full `make unit-tests` target passed. ### Screenshots No UI changes. ### Downstream repositories - [x] No downstream repository is affected by this change - [ ] [cozystack/website](https://github.com/cozystack/website) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/terraform-provider-cozystack](https://github.com/cozystack/terraform-provider-cozystack) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/ansible-cozystack](https://github.com/cozystack/ansible-cozystack) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/ccp](https://github.com/cozystack/ccp) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/talm](https://github.com/cozystack/talm) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozyhr](https://github.com/cozystack/cozyhr) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozy-proxy](https://github.com/cozystack/cozy-proxy) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozystack-telemetry-server](https://github.com/cozystack/cozystack-telemetry-server) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/external-apps-example](https://github.com/cozystack/external-apps-example) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/examples](https://github.com/cozystack/examples) - follow-up: ### Release note ```release-note fix(e2e-sandbox): restore mc installation in release-1.6 builds using pinned GitHub release assets and SHA256 checks ```
…hinery fork (#4473) ## What this PR does This moves the root module's `k8s.io/*` from v0.35 to v0.37.1 and controller-runtime from v0.23 to v0.25.1, and drops the `k8s.io/apimachinery` fork on the way. Supersedes #3001, #4467 and #4472; those were a stack of the same commits. The four commits are meant to be read one by one, and each builds and passes the tests on its own: 1. **Plain watches stop getting the initial-events-end bookmark.** The apiserver defaults `sendInitialEvents=true` onto any watch with an empty or `0` resourceVersion and leaves bookmarks off, and our aggregated storages took that flag alone as a WatchList request. From `k8s.io/apiserver` v0.36 the watch handler compiled into cozystack-api panics on that bookmark, so `kubectl get -w` on any cozystack-api resource would die after the bump. The marker now needs both flags, the same condition the watch cache uses. There are tests per storage and one through the real handler chain. 2. **The apimachinery fork goes.** Every apps kind shares the `Application` Go type, and stock `Scheme.ConvertToVersion` picks the first kind registered for it. The fork patched that; the apps group now encodes through a serializer that keeps the kind the object carries. A handler-chain test covers create, get, list, update, watch, apply and table for two kinds and fails without it. 3. **MutatingAdmissionPolicy stays out of admission.** From v0.36 the plugin is on by default and refuses every write until it has synced `mutatingadmissionpolicies`, which cozystack-api has no RBAC to list and which clusters before 1.36 do not serve. Without this, every create, update and delete would fail after the bump. It is also re-applied in `Complete`, since `--disable-admission-plugins` replaces the list. 4. **The bump itself**, with the regenerated clients, openapi and strategy CRDs. Commits 2 and 4 are where the review effort goes; 1 and 3 are small. Known changes in behaviour: - Without the fork, the row objects of a Table requested with `includeObject=Object` carry the first registered app kind. kubectl asks for that only with `--sort-by`, and it sorts on fields, not on the kind. Nothing at this layer can fix it, because the handler converts through `APIGroupInfo.Scheme`, a concrete `*runtime.Scheme`. Admission webhooks and ValidatingAdmissionPolicy still see the right kind. - The alpha PodSpec field `workloadRef` became `schedulingGroup` upstream. Once the new strategy CRDs are applied, the apiserver prunes `workloadRef` from stored strategies it serves, and their next write erases it. It only ever worked behind an alpha feature gate. The branch is rebased onto the Renovate rollup (#4447), with `go mod tidy` and codegen rerun on top of it. ### Screenshots No UI changes. ### Downstream repositories - [x] No downstream repository is affected by this change - [ ] [cozystack/website](https://github.com/cozystack/website) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/terraform-provider-cozystack](https://github.com/cozystack/terraform-provider-cozystack) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/ansible-cozystack](https://github.com/cozystack/ansible-cozystack) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/ccp](https://github.com/cozystack/ccp) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/talm](https://github.com/cozystack/talm) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozyhr](https://github.com/cozystack/cozyhr) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozy-proxy](https://github.com/cozystack/cozy-proxy) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/cozystack-telemetry-server](https://github.com/cozystack/cozystack-telemetry-server) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/external-apps-example](https://github.com/cozystack/external-apps-example) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/examples](https://github.com/cozystack/examples) - follow-up: - [ ] [cozystack/community](https://github.com/cozystack/community) - follow-up: ### Release note ```release-note chore(deps): cozystack-api and the controllers build against the Kubernetes 1.37 libraries without the apimachinery fork. Plain watches no longer receive the WatchList initial-events-end bookmark, and objects in Table rows requested with includeObject=Object may carry another app's kind. ``` <!-- This is an auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai --> ## Summary by CodeRabbit * **New Features** * Application API responses now preserve the requested resource kind across operations, including lists and watches. * Backup strategy resources support additional Kubernetes pod settings, including probe protocols, volume ownership options, and scheduling groups. * Backup strategy schemas include updated Kubernetes pod fields and descriptions. * **Bug Fixes** * Initial-event watch bookmarks are sent only when requested; plain watches continue without an ending bookmark. * Mutating Admission Policy is disabled by default, including when admission plugin options are customized. <!-- end of auto-generated comment: release notes by coderabbit.ai -->
What this PR does
This replaces the open Renovate PRs with one rollup. Go modules move to their newest releases that keep the Kubernetes libraries and controller-runtime where they are, the toolchain and builder images move to Go 1.27.1, and the first-party code gets the Go 1.27 modernizers. Tests for the code the bumps touch come first, in their own commits, and pass on both the old and the new dependencies.
Before the bumps:
make unit-testsnow runs the tests of the nested Go modules (kubevirt-csi-driver, token-proxy, kubeovn-webhook, api/apps/v1alpha1). They never ran in CI before.Held back on purpose, with the reasons in the commit messages:
govulncheck reports nothing reachable in any of the five modules, standard library included.
Supersedes #4311, #4310, #4309, #3452, #3993, #3927, #3902, #3805, #3451, #3415, #3414, #3413, #3302, #4050 and #3363. #3001 stays open.
Not checked locally: the images that build upstream projects (kube-ovn, kamaji, cilium, linstor-csi and others) with the Go 1.27 builder. The image build jobs of this PR cover them.
Closes #4487.
