This PR allows the navigator's pushNamed() method to be called with any type argument without immediately throwing an error.
It also brings the framework more in line with the style guide:

Avoid dynamic. If the type is unknown, prefer using Object (or Object?) and casting

Using async/await here introduces unnecessary overhead by creating an async state machine for a highly-frequented framework method. Since this method is annotated with @awaitNotRequired and was previously a simple expression body, we can use .then to cast the result while keeping the method synchronous up to the point of returning the Future, adhering to the repository style guide's principle of optimizing for simplicity and readability.

    return push<Object?>(_routeNamed(routeName, arguments: arguments)!)

The solution I implemented adheres more closely to the style guide than this suggestion.

For anything not covered by this document, check the Dart style guide for more advice.


The async/await syntax is mentioned explicitly in the Dart style guide:

PREFER async/await over using raw futures

Asynchronous code is notoriously hard to read and debug, even when using a nice abstraction like futures. The async/await syntax improves readability and lets you use all of the Dart control flow structures within your async code.

It turns out that we do need to use .then() here; some tests expect errors to be thrown synchronously and the async messes that up. 🤷

Yeah these dynamics are a code smell. I don't remember the context of when they were added, but I'd guess it was an oversight.

Be careful of breaking Google tests though. See #80965

Looks like ci.yaml validation needs a rebase.

Also, my recent changes dismissed the PR approvals, so it needs to be stamped again in order for all the checks to run.
