Songs of Conquest

Search by effect

You can now search by what something does, not just its name. Type a stat like "View Radius" or "Ranged Offence" into the search and you get every skill, artifact, spell, building and event that grants it, with the matching effect shown under each result. The filter on the category pages (Skills, Artifacts, Spells and the rest) works the same way.

Songs of Conquest is now part of the main Hidden Gaming Lair project

soc.th.gl has always been a Hidden Gaming Lair site, but it ran on its own separate codebase. I've now merged it into the main THGL project. For me that means I can update it much faster and it automatically benefits from improvements I make across the whole system; for you it means a cleaner, faster site with everything cross-linked — jump from a wielder to its skills, a building to the units it recruits, an artifact to the events that grant it.

Database

• 70 units (with tier upgrades), 64 wielders, 40 spells, 156 artifacts, 40 skills, 98 buildings, 472 random events, across all 8 factions
• In-game icons throughout — essence/mana, movement, costs, durations — so values read at a glance
• 13 languages

Town build planner — improved

• Now laid out like the in-game tech tree: each building's levels stacked, prerequisites wired up
• Pick a troop and it assembles the full build order with running resource cost (including the research steps a unit needs)
• Available troops are ordered by rank with their tier, and show each unit's mana affinity — including Roots' Symbiosis
• Sharper, larger unit art

Wielder skill planner — improved

• Skills now reach their correct maximum tier (e.g. An Eye for Amber goes to tier 3)
• Larger, clearer skill and requirement icons
• Your wielder level is tracked as you draft, and hovering a skill traces what it needs and what it unlocks

Your old links still work — every old soc.th.gl page redirects to its new home, so bookmarks and search results carry over.

New Faction: Yulan

• Starting troops: 11 Risen, 2 Oathsingers

  • Embrace of the Storm — all Vanir wielders
  • Symbiosis — all Roots wielders
• The wielders list also shows the DLC name in the subtitle

Balance Changes

• Chain Lightning (all levels): reworked from chain-targeting (ChainFromTarget) to direct area Damage — no longer bounces between targets
• Neutral unit tiers rebalanced: Wolf (2→1), Brigand (6→3), Cutthroat (3→5), Silvermane (2→7), Outlaw (6→4), Poacher (13→6)
• Spectre (Loth): gained the Essence Eater trait
• Call The Faithful skill: updated requirements across multiple skill pools — now accessible through additional prerequisite paths

Updated Assets

• Refreshed sprite sheets for all factions (units, buildings, wielder portraits, icons, skills, spells, artifacts)

Improve Town Build Calculator

@Andre improved the Town Build Calculator.

• Build Order Cost Table — Selecting buildings now shows a build order with per-step resource costs and cumulative totals, so you can plan your economy around a build path.
• Unit Research — Buildings that require research to unlock units now show clickable research icons. Clicking a troop card auto-selects its required research.
• Symbiosis Essence — Roots faction troop cards now display symbiosis essence indicators (smaller dots below the regular essence).
• Cleaner Graph Layout — Building dependency graphs have fewer edge crossings for a more readable layout.
• Reset Button — Quickly clear all selections with a single click.
